Cameron Soulis Leaves Legacy with Bequest to Support Future Students

Cameron Soulis '86

Cameron Soulis grew up in Williamsport, MD, and earned her B.A. from Hood in 1986. She spent the first part of her career as a high school chemistry teacher before becoming an Episcopal priest in 2014.

“I chose Hood because I got a generous Scholarship, which made it affordable for my parents,” she says. In addition to her support of the Hood Fund each year since graduation, Cameron has made a bequest to the College to help Hood educate future students.

“It was easy to do, and my gifts now enable a good education for current and future Hood students,” she says. “I think it is important for alumni to support their alma mater. I know that tuition does not cover the cost of educating students. While I was at Hood, I benefited from the generosity of others.”

As a student, Cameron gave tours for the admissions office and was a member of the Ionic Society, Mortar Board, and the student campus ministry group. She also attended and was very active at All Saints Episcopal Church in Frederick. “I received a very good education,” she says. “Hood helped me develop the ability to write well and think analytically. And I made lifelong friendships there.” Cameron says she has lots of great memories from her time at Hood, most of which are tied to her living in Shriner Hall and the residents’ motto: “Shrinah, ain’t nothin’ finah!”

Cameron encourages others to consider the legacies they could leave to support future Blazers. “We benefited greatly by what Hood gave us while we were there,” she concludes. “This is our chance to give back to Hood.”
