Christine Plankenhorn Tischer '65 and her husband Joe

Christine Plankenhorn Tischer '65 and her husband Joe understand the value of giving back. Both have committed to honoring their alma maters through bequests in their estate plan.

Chris, an artist by profession, has designated a portion of her estate to be used for campus beautification and upkeep. She has allocated another portion to fund a professorship or to support an initiative in the liberal arts.

The Tischers have also realized the joy of giving during their lifetimes with many charitable gifts. Students who complete departmental honors papers are known as Christine P. Tischer Scholars, named so in 2001 in recognition of the Tischer's continuing generosity to the College.

For the past 45 years, Chris has remained loyal to Hood. She has served as an alumnae volunteer, as editor of the Hood College Magazine, as a member of the board of associates, and was named an emerita member of the Hood College Board of Trustees. The College recognized her in 1988 with the Excellence in Service Award.

Chris and Joe are committed to making a difference. Recognizing the impact Hood had on her life, Chris is ensuring that future generations of Hood students have similar experiences.
