Janet Spaulding Nunn ’61

Janet Spaulding Nunn

Janet Spaulding Nunn '61 was the first of her family to graduate from college. Her parents instilled in her the belief that she could achieve whatever she wished by working hard. With this inspiration and the tools provided by Hood, Janet entered the work force in 1961 with the confidence that she could attain the life she desired. For 50 years she has believed in giving back.

Janet is grateful for the foundation she received at Hood. Her motivation to repay stems from her strong belief in education. In addition to her annual gifts, including Hood in her estate plan ensures that she can continue this trend and leave a legacy.

Having grown up in an era when women held a lesser status in society Janet places great value on what Hood taught her. As a result, she approaches all activity with a "can do" attitude.

"I am very proud of Hood and the remarkable comeback it has made, thanks to great leadership and to faithful support by alumni and friends of the College. I want to be part of that continuum and see Hood remain a thriving institution. Making a bequest to Hood assures me that students will be granted opportunities such as mine into perpetuity."
